Gravel cycling offers the chance to enjoy fast-rolling off-road trails across beautiful landscape.

Riding gravel is less about the technical challenges of mountain biking, and more about the fun of the journey. The South Downs make great gravel-hunting territory, and we’re excited to offer a choice of scenic adventures that take in the very best of Sussex. We’ve selected some of our favourite off-road routes, and added a couple more, tailored specially for the gravel enthusiast.
Let’s go!

Riding with Marmalade

Gravel, dust, mud, lanes

Gravel biking doesn’t always mean gravel. Dusty tracks, sometimes mud, and sometimes tarmac country lanes. We go where the adventure takes us!

The right bike for the trail

Bring your drop-bar gravel bike. Or your hardtail mountain bike. Both are welcome. Bring whichever bike you’ll find comfortable on fast-rolling non-technical trails. Big-travel full-suss or slick-tyred road bikes won’t be the right tools for these gravel tasks.

Choose your adventure

With a mix of routes, you can choose your gravel adventure. Rolling hill-fort safaris, riverside blasts and seaside adventures. Expect varied terrain, healthy mileage and a few café stops along the way.
