The benchmark for guided rides on the Surrey Hills is our famous and classic ‘Singletrack Adventure’. Now running for its fifth year in a row, this ride proves to be as popular as ever, with many riders coming back for more and more each month. The reason that sets this apart from other guided rides on the Surrey Hills, is all down to the format and the sociable element of a Marmalade MTB ride. We introduce you to the main areas and inject as much flowing, fast singletrack as you can handle. This day out is the perfect introduction to mountain biking on this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
What to expect!
Beware this ride is a challenge! You will need to have a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy every inch of the sublime trails. The Surrey Hills experience would not be complete without a mid-ride stop at the awesome Peaslake Village Stores for a famous cheese-straw or slice of cake and the traditional post-ride drink at the Royal Oak in Holmbury.
PLEASE NOTE: This ride is not suitable for beginners who are not proficient at technical singletrack. If you are still not sure whether this ride is for you, then please do not hesitate to contact us by clicking here.

Excellent ride with a great group of cycling enthusiasts last Sat in Surrey Hills. Ben was the group leader and adapted the ride on-the-go brilliantly to cater for the groups abilities and also make sure we experience some hidden gems in terms of less well known tracks. Highly recommend!
Steve West –
A cracking day biking in the Surrey Hills. It’s my local haunt but I discovered some new runs and links, and how to pull them together into a long ride. A really sociable group, and Sean was a very confidence-inspiring, knowledgeable and relaxed leader. Well recommended!
Lahrie –
I had my first guided tour with Sean yesterday (16Oct22) and it was a fantastic day out. I am looking forward to joining again soon.
Dave Collin –
Hi all,
Just wanted to drop you msg to say that yet again Marmalade have delivered.
Had a fantastic day out with Ben and can’t wait till my next ride out with you guys.
Neil Parker –
I hadn’t ridden this area before, so thought I’d give a guided Tour a go with Marmalade. Ben was a sociable, affable host with fantastic local knowledge, taking us down the classic runs like “Yoghurt Pots” and “Barry Knows Best” as well as some of the more hidden gems.
My rear mudguard decided it liked the area so much it decided to go feral and seek divorce from the rest of the bike. Ben was on hand to help out and generously carried the errant mudguard for a large part of the ride. Cheers Ben!
The trails are challenging with roots, jumps, drops and pretty fast flowing tracks – certainly kept me on my toes! I’ve booked another couple of trips with Marmalade off the back of this experience.. highly recommended!
Mark Baker –
7th May 2022. Excellent days ride with Ben and a great bunch of MTBers. 18 miles of very dry trails in the Surrey Hills on a beautiful day, with a break for a cuppa & cheese straw in Peaslake. A big thank you to our fantastic guide Ben for showing us the trails, some I’d done before but more I hadn’t. Looking forward to riding riding again in the Surrey Hills and with Marmalade MTB
Thank you again for a brilliant day

A great day’s ride with rain & muddy conditions expected Sean took us over the best trails. I brought a friend along who enjoyed the day so much he’s booked to go on the Peak District ride with me too !
Jeff Grimes –
Another great day out on somewhat damp and muddy Surrey Hills. Introduced to some new trails which was brilliant. Smashing company all round.
Gary Paish –
First class was well looked after by Sean and Clive. Went above and beyond to make a great experience. Gave me some great tips. Thank you will be seeing me again

Not my first ride with you but has to be the best yet!
The Surrey Hills Singletrack Adventure has left me with the biggest smile.
All the well known tracks in one ride plus great company, all topped off with a pint at the Royal Oak and a Sunday roast, what a day!
Thanks Sean.
PS… see you at the Christmas ride ♥️
Steve
Mr DK –
Great day out in the Surrey Hills. Sean made it an enjoyable and inclusive atmosphere, with a friendly group all round. Helpful chat before booking too. Superb fun and I also appreciated the tips on technique. Thanks Sean!

Louise Pickles –
Amazing day out with Paul in Surrey Hills. Loved every minute and drove home super happy and tired after a well deserved drink at the pub. Looking forward to my next Marmalade adventure 🙂
Tony Pocock –
Another excellent ride with the Marmalade crew and great to see some new areas of the Surrey Hills and revisit some from many year back. The Sun finally made an appearance for the customary post ride refreshment at the Royal Oak. Sean and the team cater for all levels of abilities and fitness, so if you want to recharge your MTB, book a Marmalade day and peel off into the amazing Surrey Hills singletrack and shred some trails

With so many people raving on about “Surrey Hills” I decided that it was time to go and see what all the fuss was about. Having been told that they rated from the sedate to the seriously gnarly it was one of those decisions to “go and get lost” or have someone guide you. Strava threw up literally hundreds of segments! Lost it was going to be. Having been on the East Sussex Explorer with Sean it seemed the logical choice to head for the hills for some Marmalade action.
The weather was…well…rubbish! I will ride whatever the weather but heading out on the first mile I began to think that a desk top hobby might be in order…especially as this is supposed to be Summer! Sean did us proud though and introduced us to some of the good and perhaps less ridden (I guess the “cool kids” find these a bit boring) single track that the Hills have to offer. It was wet, there was not getting away from it but with a bit of encouragement (I am not one for the fast downhill approach) I soon began to enjoy myself.
With a stop at the infamous Peaslake Village stores for refreshments (at this point the sun came out ??) and some quick repairs to a puncture (cheers Sean) we set off again to ride the last trail home and finally, if with a squint, got to see some sort of view from the top of a hill – I’m still not sure that was The Shard, my vision by then was a little hazy! Awesome post ride pint and grub at The Royal Oak and then off home.
Great day and I will certainly be looking to re-book in the hope that next time it might be slightly less moist. Thanks, go to Sean and my fellow riders on the day for such a good time.
Jeff Grimes –
Another brilliant day out on a very wet and muddy day. Expertly guided by Sean we rode some great trails on Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill. We rode at our own pace with no pressure to push on or keep up. Can’t recommend it enough.
dougclemmans –
Another great day out in the Surrey Hills with Ben as our guide. Rode with a very friendly bunch with lots of laughs and couple of spills. Ben allowed us to go at a steady pace so didn’t feel like my lungs or legs were going to explode. Finishing the ride on Telegraph is always a great way to finish. Will definitely book again.
Michael Mettam –
Wow! What a brilliant day! Excellent service from Sean (pre the event) after booking the incorrect event to suit my partner… he was quick to resolve and even though had no available dates for the Surrey Hills Single Track Adventure he was able to quickly sort us 1:2 session. Both me and my partner had an absolute blast with Paul (Our guide) and after many miles of up and down hills with smiles all round being shown some great routes we finished the day with a pint at the local! Great experience, great service… definitely book again! Now looking forward to booking South Downs in the new year with Marmalade MTB!!!
Sue Ferguson –
Another brilliant day single track riding in the Surrey Hills with Sean, and he booked the right weather!
Thank you
Damian Brewis –
Great day out with Paul. That last long drag up Holmbury was hard but worth it! Fantastic trails.
Ian Mahon –
Another brilliant day on Surrey Hills being guided by Paul on some truly awesome trails. I would highly recommend this day to everyone.
Mark Bennett –
Just had a fantastic day out with Paul of Marmalade MTB being guided on the best trails the Surrey Hills has to offer. A relaxed and social 18 miles filled with fun, flowing single track over the three hills of Leith, Holmbury and Pitch. I can’t recommend Marmalade MTB highly enough. I will be back for more on the Trailblazer ride!
andypittson –
I cannot rate this trip enough! The Marmalade crew will expertly guide you around some of the best forest trails in the UK! There knowledge of this incredible MTB paradise is unrivaled! They also cater for mixed levels. If you love endless flowing single track definitely book this trip!
