Cowdray Estate is nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park – with a glorious ridge of rolling hills to the south and the rural terrain of the Sussex Weald to the north. Mountain bikes provide a wonderful way to experience this stunning and varied landscape for yourself.Â
The team at Marmalade MTB will put together a custom experience for you, your family or your group. We will meet you at your Cowdray accommodation with high-quality full suspension bikes (with electrical assistance, if you like!) Our expert mountain bike guides will lead you through ancient woodland up to the ridge of the South Downs Way, where the view is spectacular. From there, we’ll customise a route to suit you – whether laid-back sightseeing along the hills or a twisty trail challenge for keen mountain bikers. The forests and off-road trails of Heyshott Common and the surrounding landscape are waiting to be explored, dotted with picture-postcard villages and charming country pubs.
Explore the ancient downland, sprawling country estates and winding valleys of the South Downs National Park on two wheels. A custom off-road cycling experience with Marmalade MTB allows you to travel at your own pace.

Regular Mountain Bikes
The Specialized Stumpjumper is the swiss-army knife of mountain bikes with it’s 150 mm of plush suspension travel at both ends and 12 speed gears, this superb trail bike will provide all the comfort, control and confidence for your South Downs adventure.
Safety First
Each bike hire comes with a Specialized Tactic helmet with the Multi-directional Impact Protection system (M.I.P.S). The inlays are machined washed after every use ensuring the lids are hygienically cleaned and ready for the next ride.

Need a little assistance to cover more ground and make the most of your ride across the Cowdray Estate and beyond? Then the Specialized Levo’s and SL model bikes on offer with their state-of-the-art specification will do nothing but put a big smile on your face.

Have your own bike(s)?
The base prices below are for one person and up to a group of four riders:
- Half day is £220 for up to 3 hours
- Full day is £300 for 4 to 6 hours
- To book: Select ‘Half day’ or ‘Full day’ from the ‘Experiences’ drop down
- Add more riders for a group of five to eight using the ‘Extras’ drop down menu
Need to hire bike(s)?
- Select the ‘Half day + bike’ or ‘Full day + bike’ option from the ‘Experiences’ drop down and this will add the delivery/collection charge to the prices quoted above
- Add more riders for a group of five to eight using the ‘Extras’ drop down menu
- Add your bikes based on the height and type options from the ‘Extras’ drop down menu
Meet point: Once you have booked, we can decide on the best location to start your ride. This will depend on where your accommodation is on the Cowdray Estate.
