Responsible Travel Policy

Marmalade MTB – Responsible Travel Policy

At Marmalade MTB, we are committed to providing our customers with incredible mountain biking experiences while minimizing our impact on the environment and supporting the communities we visit. We believe that responsible travel is essential for ensuring the long-term sustainability of our business and the places we ride.

Environment

Our Commitment to the Environment

  • Minimize our carbon footprint: We encourage our customers to travel to the UK by train or other sustainable means of transportation whenever possible. We also offset our own carbon emissions through partnerships with reforestation programs
  • Respect the natural environment: We stick to designated trails and avoid riding in sensitive areas. We also promote Leave No Trace principles among our customers and educate them on the importance of minimizing waste and respecting wildlife
  • Support sustainable businesses: We partner with accommodations and restaurants that share our commitment to sustainability
Local communities

Our Commitment to Local Communities

  • Support local economies: We source our food and supplies from local businesses whenever possible. We also employ local guides and staff whenever possible
  • Promote cultural understanding: We educate our customers on the history and culture of the places we visit. We also encourage them to interact with local people in a respectful manner
  • Give back to the community: We support local trail associations, charities and conservation organizations through donations and volunteering opportunities
Our customers

Our Commitment to You

  • Transparency: We are transparent about our sustainability practices and the impact of our tours
  • Education: We educate our customers on responsible travel practices and encourage them to participate in making a positive impact
  • Continuous improvement: We are constantly striving to improve our sustainability practices and find new ways to minimize our environmental impact
Bio-security

The areas we visit on our mountain biking trips are special, so we must all help to protect these landscapes. As part of your preparation for your trip with us this year, check out this advice from the UK Government and Natural Resources Wales.

There has been a significant increase in the number of non-native tree pests and diseases being introduced to the United Kingdom since the early 2000s. This demonstrates the need for us all to take action to provide our trees, woods and forests with greater protection. By implementing appropriate biosecurity measures, we can significantly reduce the risk of introducing and spreading tree pests and diseases.

What you can do:

  • Think Feet:
    • Arrive in the area with clean footwear, cycling and non-cycling
    • Before you leave: clean mud, organic material and water off your shoes
  • Think Wheels:
    • Ensure your bike and kit is clean before you arrive in the area and before you leave to go home
    • Drive and park your vehicle only on hard-standing surfaces such as tarmac where possible when visiting outdoor areas such as woodlands, parks or gardens
  • Think Future:
    • Keeping it clean really is that simple. You may be wondering what real difference you can actually make – but if we all take small steps together now, we’re taking big steps toward keeping the UK’s woodlands and countryside beautiful for generations to come

International Customers

We recognize that some of our customers travel from outside the UK. We encourage these customers to offset their carbon emissions from air travel. We can also provide information on how to travel sustainably within the UK.

This policy is a work in progress, and we are always looking for ways to improve our sustainability practices. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Thank you for choosing Marmalade MTB! We look forward to sharing our passion for mountain biking with you in a responsible way.
